Vincent James Vecera, age 64, of Richmond, IN, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Reid Health. He was born on May 8, 1962, in Richmond, IN, the son of Rocco E. Vecera and Mary Rose (Pappano) Vecera.

Vincent enjoyed traveling the world with his family as an army brat before settling in Richmond in 1979. He moved to Austin, TX in the mid '80s where he worked as a carpenter helper framing houses. His other jobs include working at a body shop, painting and detailing boats and at a boat rental business as a boat mechanic.  He took much pleasure fishing and boating on Lake Travis.

When Vincent moved back to Richmond in the mid '90s, he started his own business called "Vecera Painting". During those years as a painter, he took great pride in his work, always striving for perfection. He developed personal relationships with many of his customers.

He was a member of Sons of The American Legion Post 360 in New Paris OH. He enjoyed spending time with old friends and new friends. He never met a stranger. Also, he loved to feed all types of animals that happened to approach his porch, making sure they had plenty of food and water available.

Vincent is survived by his mother, Mary Rose (Pappano) Vecera; siblings, Linda (Ed) Cason, June (Kurt) Peer, Joe Vecera, Rocky (Julie) Vecera, Rita (Chuck) Clapp; uncle, Joe (Betty) Pappano; aunts, Katie Pappano, Donna Anderson, and Barbara "Bocky" Rumple; several nieces, nephews, and cousins who have always been very near and dear to him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rocco E. Vecera in 2018.

Liturgy of Christian burial will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Sengole Gnanaraj at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 815 West Main Street, Richmond, IN.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation for Vincent will be from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home, 222 North 10th Street, Richmond, IN.
