Vanessa Rose Porter, age 70 of Fountain City, died Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at her home after an eight-year battle with several illnesses. She was born June 21, 1955, in Richmond to Ernest and Cora Sams Gray Sr., and has lived in the area her entire life. She was a homemaker. She was a board member of the Richmond Conservation Club. She enjoyed playing Bingo, displaying her 1956 Chevrolet at Car Shows, riding motorcycles, and attending Dirt Track Auto Races.

Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Bill, three children, Sara (Harold L.) Marcum, April (Louie) Vega, and William Odice (Tanya) Porter, seven grandchildren, Matthew Porter, Lexi Porter, Madi (Evelyn) Harley, Shawna Porter, Zac (Emily) Caldwell, Emily Caldwell, and Levi Turman, five great-grandchildren Fox Porter, Teagen Porter, and Eedie Porter, Aden Coy, and Hudson Frisby, her mother Cora Gray, one sister Letha White, one brother, Ernest (Lee Ann) Gray, special friend Freda Hampton, special nieces, Shonda (Eric) Sandlin, Joshlyn and Kaylyn Sandlin, Angie (Jerry), Madi, and Emma Bussen, E.W. Gray. nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, aunts, and uncles.

She is preceded in death by her father, Ernest Gray Sr., and one sister, Teresa Ann Gray.

Her funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home with Rev. John Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery following the funeral service. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home.
