Toby Richard 82 of Richmond passed away on February 2, 2025, at Reid after a long illness. He was born March 29, 1942, in Richmond to Cecil Richard and Beatrice Brown and lived here all of his life.

Toby retired after 42 years from the City of Richmond Sanitation Department and he helped run Whitey's Bait Shop with his mother; he enjoyed riding his scooter, playing cards, bowling, the Indianapolis Colts, and Music.

He was a member of the First Southern Missionary Baptist Church.

Toby is survived by one daughter Crissy (Daniel) Scalf, one son Ben Borden, three grandchildren Taylor Scalf, Jacob Scalf, and Mariah Scalf, and four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rosa Richard, and five brothers.

Services will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Robin Coffey officiating; burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery.
