Sallie L. Williams 95, of Richmond, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024, at Rosebud Village with her loved ones by her side. She was born November 4, 1929, in Silver Point, Tennessee to James C. and Bessie L. Ford Steele. Sallie was a long-time resident of Richmond and worked as a nurse's aid for the Richmond State Hospital.

She was dearly loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was marked by love, compassion, and faith in God. She was a devout Baptist and strived to be a shining light of God's love to others.

Sallie met Fred Williams Jr. and was married on October 10, 1945; they shared 44 years of Happiness and unending love. After marriage Sallie and Fred had 5 children; Sallie never missed a chance to tell people how proud she was of her children. Her love for her family was second to none; she was proud of the mother, grandmother, and wife that she was.

She loved to quilt, and sew and continued these hobbies for as long as she was able. She liked to play Cards, Dice Games, and Yahtzee with her friends in the neighborhood and hosted friends and family members at her home to play a few hands frequently.

She is survived by her children Ruby (Delbert) Musselman, Jane (Robert) Maupin, and Freddie (Becky) Williams, eight grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, thirteen great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, fourteen great-great-grandchildren, one brother, one sister, and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred Jr., two daughters Rose, and Carolyn, three sisters, and two brothers.

Sallie's passing has left a large void in the hearts of family, friends, and many other lives that were touched by her. Those who know Sallie will remember her for her kindness, loving heart, and quick wit. She had a way with words and was always using southern adages that we will remember and carry with us forever.

Sallie's family would like to thank the staff of Rosebud Village and Southern Care Hospice for all of their care and support during this difficult time.

Services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Coffee III officiating; burial will be at Fairfield Cemetery in Greens Fork, Indiana.
