Obituary

Roland Herschel Williams 94 of Richmond peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024. He was born August 6, 1929, to Herschel and Katheryn Williams and was a native of Richmond.

He started his working career at Hills Nurseries. Roland served as a Sergeant in the Air Force as a radio operator from 1947 to 1950 in occupied Japan. He also served as the Director of Human Resources at Borden Dairy in Fort Wayne and later the Vice President of Human Resources with Bank One in Richmond.

After retirement, he enjoyed all the time spent with his family at the lake house on Pretty Lake in Northern Indiana. He loved working alongside his wife Glora with garden and home projects at both residences. He loved reading and enjoyed his home library.

Roland will be missed by his wife Glora, daughters Carol Sappenfield, Amy Williams, and Cammy Dennison, and his sons Bruce (Traci) Williams, Mark (Joy) Williams, Bret (Nancy) Williams, and Chris (Brenda) Williams. He also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Roland is preceded in death by his son Chad Williams.

The family wants to extend their gratitude and thanks to The Springs and Reid Hospice staff. In place of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to any organization of choice.

Public visitation will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to the family via the guest book at stegallberheideorr.com.
