Robert "Rob" Oliver Gethers Jr, 72 years of age, of Centerville, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on October 22, 2024, at Reid Hospital after a long hard battle with cancer.

Rob was born on April 28, 1952, in New Castle, IN to Robert O. Gethers and Gladys L. Willis-Copeland. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1976 and was an Aviation Structural Mechanic before receiving an Honorable discharge in 1979 due to a spinal injury. He worked 22 years at Wayne Works as an inspector. Throughout Rob's life, he played in many different bands as a left-handed guitarist but really enjoyed playing in the band, Southern Legacy, which consisted of family members. Rob enjoyed fishing, listening to 70's and 80's rock music, playing his guitar, and spending time with his family and friends.

Rob will be missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Megan and Scott Nolte; two grandchildren, Chloe and Joseph Nolte; sisters, Bobbye (Dennis) Allman, Johnnye (Ed Byrd) Gethers-Hendrix and Debbie McComis; brother, Michael Gethers; several nieces and nephews.

Rob was preceded in death by his birth parents; stepmother Cletis "Rusty" Gethers; sister, Katheryn Neal; nephew, Clayton Hendrix; niece, Jessie Emrick; friends, David Ragle and Tim Clark.

A celebration of life will be held at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 1:00 PM.
