Robert T. Mitrione, M.D., Ph.D. unexpectedly passed away on November 18, 2024, at Reid Hospital, Richmond, IN. Robert was born on February 21, 1949, to Rose Marie (Capaldo) and Frank Mitrione in Newark, New Jersey.

Robert graduated from James Caldwell High School in 1967.  He earned a Master's and Doctorate degrees at the University of Illinois, Champaign, Il.  In 1981 Robert received his M.D. at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois.  He was board-certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine.  He was a member of Indiana Asam and other professional organizations.

At his death, Robert was in private practice and a contractual employee at the Ohio State Women's Correctional Facility in Dayton, Ohio. Robert was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Richmond.  He enjoyed working with the St. Martin Deporre mission.

Robert is survived by; his wife Marla, and children Robert, Matthew (Kayla), Marisa (Matt) Griffin, and Nate (Misty) Wilson.  He was grandfather to 16 grandchildren, his sister Jan (Ray) Carrato, and his brother Christopher (Cheryl) Mitrione, sister-in-law Colleen Mitrione and nieces and nephews.

Robert's remains were attended to by Stegall, Berheide, and Orr Funeral Service in Richmond Indiana. Interment will be held in the Spring at Island Grove Cemetery in New Berlin Illinois
