Rhonda Cathy Brown passed away on February 1, 2026 at Reid Health at the age of 71. She was surrounded by love and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Born on July 21, 1954 in Richmond, IN to Joseph and Mary Ann DeRago, she lived in this area all of her life.

For more than 30 years, Rhonda was a devoted school teacher who shaped countless young lives, spending most of her career at Starr School. She was known for her strong-willed and boisterous personality, but probably most for her sense of humor and quick wit. She was always ready for a laugh or a perfectly timed comment.

She had a special love for her dachshunds, who matched her spirit more than she'd probably admit: loyal, stubborn and full of character. Her home and heart were never quite complete without one nearby.

She leaves behind her husband of nearly 50 years, Charlie, her cherished daughter, Ashley Bishop (Steve), her bonus granddaughters, Madeline and Taylor, her furry grandchildren, Lucky and Walter, her dearest extended family, her "Old Lady Brunch" crew and many, many more colleagues and friends she's made through the years.

In heaven, she joins her parents, her sister, Paula, her beloved aunts and uncles, Helen, Remo, Phil, and Ruth and her precious dog, Bailey.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Reid Health, in particular the CCU nurses and her physicians for their excellent and compassionate care.

Friends may call on Saturday, February 7th, 2026 from 11-1pm at Stegall-Berheide-Orr. A service will follow at 1pm at Stegall-Berheide-Orr. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
