Randy Lee Smith 68 of Richmond died March 5, 2022, at Friends Fellowship community. He graduated from Indiana University with a B.A. in Social Studies and Education. Randy taught school at the secondary level in Utah. He organized and served as principal in an Alternative High School in Virginia.
Randy went on to Law School at the University of Houston Law Center. While attending Law School, he served as a law clerk in the firm of Leon Jaworski. Upon graduation, he practiced law in Savannah, Georgia. While there he had a part-time career as a model for both local and national campaigns.
He moved back to Houston to practice law for the remainder of his law career. During his many years of practice there, he became an author having published books and publications in his area of expertise of Insurance Law. This expertise gave him the opportunity to serve clients locally, nationally, and internationally. Though his law career was a lengthy one, it was cut short by the diagnosis of Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease.
Randy is survived by his parents John and Norma Smith, his sister Debra (Brian) Doggett, his brother Timothy (Sandy) Smith, nieces Shelley White, Amy and Kasey Smith, nephew Jason Andrade, uncles William Denny and Dudley Ramsey, Aunt Ann Smith, nephew Jason Andrade, great-nieces and nephews, and blessed to have many cousins.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Frank and Lena Smith, maternal grandparents Howard and Ruby Petty, aunts Mary Margaret (Herbert) Drook, Anna (Harold) Campbell, Agnes (Larry) Hough, Hilda Denny, Ellen (Robert) Shaw, Florence (Fred) Tieman, and Rosemary Ramsey, uncles Joseph (Phyllis) Smith, Charles Smith, Thomas Smith, and William Petty.
Randy's family wants to thank the caregivers at Friends Fellowship Comunity and Aseracare Hospice. They provided excellent care and support for not only Randy but his family as well.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Earlham Cemetery with Deacon Jim Miller officiating. Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home is handling arrangments. Online condolences may be shared with the family via the guest book at stegallberheideorr.com.
