Obituary

Patricia Elizabeth Mackey (née Eales) passed away on Sunday, March 23rd  at 7:43pm. She was 64 years old. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on March 20, 1961 to Donald and Addie Eales. She attended school at Seton and Hibberd before graduating from Northeastern in 1979. She married the father of her children, the late John "Jack" Craven in 1980. She met her true love, Jim Mackey, in 1992 and they built their life together until the end of her days.

In the early 1990s, she found her calling as a nurse. She began her career at Oak Ridge and began working at Reid hospital after receiving her LPN. Continuing her education, she became a Registered Nurse and remained so until her early retirement.

While Trish lived in Richmond all her life, she loved to travel with her husband and children. She traveled all over the continental United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Her favorite place, though, was her home, where she loved baking cookies with her grandchildren, working in her garden, and watching sports with her husband. She also loved to draw and paint and was a very talented artist.

Trish was known as a strong person, a loving wife, a supportive mother who always cheered her children on, a doting grandmother, and a wonderful nurse. She touched the lives of all who knew her, and she will be fondly remembered for her humor, her boundless optimism, her kindness, and her support of new nurses throughout her career.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Anne Eales, and her father, Donald Thomas Eales, Sr. She is survived by her husband, James Mackey; her children Amanda Sebring, Kara Roosa (Chris), and Robert Craven (Emily Szabo); her grandchildren Jasmine, Ashton, and Alexa Roosa; several nieces and nephews; her sisters Nancy Gillham and two others; her brother Donald Thomas Eales, Jr., and her mother.

Trish requested not to have a funeral service. A memorial celebration of life will be scheduled for members of Trish's immediate family and her close friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Trish's final expenses can be sent via PayPal to authoramandasebring@gmail.com, or via Venmo to @authoramandasebring.

Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Onlin condolences may be shared with the family via the guestbook at stegallberheideorr.com.
