Opal Jo Ellen Miller, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on April 26, 1944, in New Castle to Samuel Wilford and Helen Louise Bowlby. Opal spent most of her life in Richmond and was a 1962 graduate of Richmond High School. She retired from Richmond State Hospital after 26 years of dedicated service.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Wilford and Helen Louise Bowlby, and her brother, Rev. Harold Bowlby.

Opal leaves behind her loving children: Ron (Michelle) Miller of Indianapolis, Thereasa (Rob) Miller of Cambridge City, Michelle (Marc) Weissenberger of North Port, Florida and Tara (Gary) Spivey of Cambridge City. She also leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved her dearly, along with her nephews, cousins, and extended family members. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Billie Sue Bowlby.

Opal was an avid bingo player and cherished the many friendships she made through her bingo family at the Moose Lodge.

Her family will forever hold her memory close in their hearts.

Funeral services will be at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home on Sunday May 31, 2026, at 12:00 P.M, officiated by Rev. Phillip Hodgkin with burial in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home on May 31st. Memorial contributions may be given to Help the Animals 2101 West Main Street Richmond, Indiana 47374.
