Obituary

Nannie Marcum, (Maiden name King) was a beloved spouse, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She was a long time resident of Richmond Indiana. She passed away peacefully at Rosebud Village Nursing home at the age of 81 on the morning of November 3, 2026. She was born on January 29, 1945 in Sand Gap, Kentucky. She is survived by her spouse Harry Marcum; two daughters Sherry Marcum and Donna Marcum; son in law Shin Tanabe; grandchild Emi Tanabe; siblings Rose Jean Davis, Linda Mae King, Lester King, Homer King, and Daniel Williams King; and sister in law Vinnie Marie Marcum. She is preceded in death by her parents Dexter and Addie King (Gentry); sisters Mary Abrams and Reba King; brothers Dennis King and Lonnie King.

Harry and Nannie were married in Hamilton, Ohio in 1964. They moved to Richmond, Indiana in 1968. Soon afterwards, they bought a little house in the Holsapple neighborhood. Nannie enjoyed taking care of her home, sitting in her rocking chair, listening to music, watching TV, reading the Bible, and tending her garden. She enjoyed taking walks through the neighborhood and having morning coffee with the neighbor ladies. Nannie was a cheerful, friendly person and a good listener. Oftentimes, when she went shopping, people would come up to her and begin talking to her about their lives. Sometimes, these people that she knew and sometimes they were strangers. Oftentimes, those strangers ended up being friends. Being a grandmother was one of her greatest joys; she took many trips to the park when daughter Donna and granddaughter Emi came to visit. She enjoyed watching her granddaughter play and giving her lots of hugs.

Services will be held at Stegall Berheide Orr Funeral Home in Richmond, Indiana. Visitation will be Monday, November 9th from 11am-1pm. The funeral will begin directly afterwards at 1pm. Burial will be in Lutherania Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.stegallberheideorr.com.
