Margie A. Weller, 97, a devoted homemaker and longtime resident of Richmond, Indiana, passed away on June 13, 2025, at Friends Fellowship Community.

Margie was a radiant reminder of what truly matters in life—faith, family, love, and integrity. She was profoundly kind, lived with an open heart, and left a legacy of faith and hospitality. She loved deeply and well, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she made each of them feel cherished.

Her happiest moments were spent with family, whether at the dining room table, at their house on Lake Lemon in Brown County, or during summer gatherings at Sunset Beach, North Carolina. A natural hostess and an exceptional cook, Margie was best known for her pies and desserts, which were always served with a side of laughter and storytelling. She was a keeper of family traditions, a teacher of family history, and a quiet but steady patriot who instilled in all of us a deep love of country. Most importantly, she instilled in all of her children a deep Christian faith.

A native of Greene County, she was born August 23, 1927, in Midland, Indiana, to Wayne and Mabel Walraven. She attended Indiana University, where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, and remained a proud and loyal Hoosier for life.

She and her husband, Robert Weller—a certified public accountant and managing partner of the Richmond office of George S. Olive & Company (now BDK LLC CPAs)—moved to Richmond in 1962 and quickly became active members of the community. Margie was a passionate supporter of Indiana University and played a leading role in expanding alumni engagement in eastern Indiana. She and Bob were instrumental in founding the Wayne County IU Alumni Club, and Margie was elected to the Executive Committee of the IU Alumni Association in the late 1980s. In recognition of her leadership and commitment, she received the IU Bicentennial Medal in 2019. The award celebrated the 200th anniversary of Indiana University and honored distinguished and distinctive service in support of IU's mission.

Margie was also deeply involved in civic life and community leadership, including decades of active participation in the Wayne County Republican Party. She was also a proud member of the PEO Sisterhood and Magazine Club. She held memberships in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the Mayflower Society, and the Fuller Society (descendants of the Fuller family who arrived on the Mayflower in 1620)—celebrating her deep ancestral ties to American history. She was also a member of Forest Hills Country Club and Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church, and more recently attended Central United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her three children: Marcia Holman (Dr. Jerry) of Indianapolis, Dr. Robert Weller (Ann) of Indianapolis, and Mark Weller (Katherine) of Vienna, Virginia. She also leaves behind seven beloved grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, in 2011. She was especially close to her only sister, Mary Nell "Dusty" Ash, and cherished the close bonds she shared with her nieces and their families.

A memorial service will be held at Friends Fellowship Community, lower level Community Room, on Saturday, June 21, at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow through 4 pm.
