Luther Allen, 83 of Richmond, Indiana, was born on September 15, 1941, to the late Linville and Ada Allen in Magoffin County, KY. He went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning October 23, 2024. Luther loved his family. He was a member of Boston Old Time Holiness Church. Luther had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting. He loved telling stories and reminiscing. He was also known for his mischievous spirit, often delighting in making jokes, and having fun. He had a particular fondness for squirrels, which he frequently introduced to new neighborhoods. Luther had a long and successful career as a truck driver with Ashland Oil (formerly Magaws Asphalt), where he worked for over 30 years driving tanker trucks. His dedication and hard work earned him the respect of his colleagues and the admiration of his family. Luther is survived by his wife, Phyllis Allen; his daughter, Teresa (Danny) Powell of Richmond, four sisters Mary (Bill) Hemminger of Portage, Lois Sandifar of Richmond, Ilene Neeley of Centerville, and Lisa Wheeler of Richmond, one brother Eddy Allen of Economy. Grandchildren: Kimberly Statham, Jessica Brock, Ashley Hensley, Heather Nemecio, Monica McClain, Amanda Hall, and Adam Powell. He is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren, with one on the way. And many nieces and nephews. Luther was preceded in death by his parents, and his three sons: Billy, Kevin, and Tim Allen. Three brothers Kash, Elick,and Cartie Allen, and one sister Pearl Hines. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Stegall-BerheideOrr Funeral Home In Richmond Indiana, Friends may call from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Reverend Jorden Hall Will be officiating. Pallbearers; Danny Powell, Adam Powell, Eddy Allen, Jorden Hall, Greg Hensley, Russell Asher. The interment will be at Willow Grove Cemetery.
