Linda Kay
Jennings
May 3, 1948 — Nov 8, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Kay Jennings, 77, of Richmond, Indiana. She passed like a thief in the night on November 8, 2025, at Reid Hospital. She had bravely battled and beaten cancer but ultimately succumbed to complications from immunotherapy.
Linda was born on May 3, 1948, in New Castle, Indiana, to Frederick and Laferne Mercer. She was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church, where she served as a eucharistic minister and taught Catholic Education for many years.
For more than 40 years, Linda worked at Seton Catholic School as the Food Service Director, affectionately known as Lunch Lady Linda to the children and staff who adored her. She took great pride in keeping "her kids" full and happy with healthy meals and snacks. Linda also loved catering weddings, baptisms, and family gatherings. Each summer she prepared food for D.A.R.E. Camp, where she was affectionately called The Possum Lady. Clearly, cooking was not only her passion—it was her calling.
Since retirement, Linda became an avid Cincinnati Reds fan, cheering on every game with her husband of 55 years, Paul Jennings. She also adopted Chip, a poodle who quickly became her pride and joy, replacing—but never forgetting—her other "children." Elvis Presley remained her all-time favorite musician.
She leaves behind three children: Dawn (Yves) Desince, James (Shambra) Jennings, and Joseph (Jennifer) Jennings; 12 grandchildren: Nicole, Brittany, Alexander, Kailee, Emily, Noah, Trey, Journee, Claire, Suzy, Jenson, and Jayce; 12 great-grandchildren: J'la, J'dynn, Jayda, Jaylee, Jayma, Mia, Kaicen, Keegan, Rylynn, Treyvion, Tristan, and Elliana (Lil Linda); and one great-great-granddaughter, Ivyanna.
Most tragically, she leaves behind her beloved furbaby, Chip, her love and greatest joy.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Richard.
