Kathie J.
Murphy
Oct 6, 1943 — Jul 13, 2025
Richmond
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, Kathie J. Murphy, on July 13, 2025, at the age of 81 at Arbor Trace Senior Living Center.
She was born October 6th, 1943, in Peru, Indiana, to Ralph and Malinda Latta Brown, and lived in the Centerville area most of her life.
Kathie enjoyed reading murder mysteries, word searches, and spending time with her grandchildren. In her late 20s, she was diagnosed with Lupus; unbeknownst to the rest of the family at the time, she was given only a few years to live. Despite this, she managed to soldier on, surviving breast cancer, a stroke, and a hip replacement. She was a very strong person, both physically and in her faith in God. Her strong faith in God blessed her with 81 years.
She is survived by her three children, John A. (Marie) Murphy, Mindy (Phil) Murphy Schroeder, Jerry A. (Corinna) Murphy, three grandchildren, Matt (Alyssa) Schroeder, Murphy Schroeder, and Alex Murphy; and a great grandson Grant Schroeder due this fall, one cousin Sandy and one niece Cheryl.
Kathie was preceded in death by the love of her life, John A. Murphy, who died in 1984; her parents, Ralph and Malinda Brown; one sister, Sharon Porfidio; and one nephew, Rodney Clay.
Special thanks to the Staff at Arbor Trace and the Hospice Staff for their amazing care given to her at this very difficult time.
