James R. (Jim) Auman, 77, passed away on April 30 at Reid Health in Richmond, IN. He was born January 7, 1947, to the late Martin C. and Marion Paisley Auman in Asheboro, NC.  Jim was a member of the Central United Methodist Church.

He graduated from Lincoln High School in Cambridge City, IN in 1965. He was a graduate of IU Kelly School of Business. He was employed by Rubberseal Division of Teknol, Inc. in Dayton, Ohio, after starting his career at Adam H. Bartel Company in Richmond, IN.

Jim was a US Army veteran, having served in Vietnam from June 1968 to June 1969 as a squad leader and light weapons advisor for Mobile Advisory Team IV-115, Advisory Team 80, Delta Military Assistance Command, and IV Corps Tactical Zone. Jim earned the rank of Sergeant and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, Air Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Ribbon, Vietnam Service Ribbon with 2 stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon.

He is survived by his wife Susie whom he married in 1976 in Cambridge City, his sons Doug of Richmond, IN and David (Amy) of Syracuse, NY, two loved grandchildren Jack and Natalie of Syracuse, two sisters Betsy (Ray) Prosser and Jean Auman (Lyle Hollenbeck) of North Carolina, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Randy (Betty) Auman of Raleigh, NC.

Jim loved distance running and biking, completing many Half Marathons, and participating in the Hilly Hundred Bike Race multiple times.  On most nice evenings or weekends, you could find him on the Cardinal Greenway riding his bike, where he and Susie volunteered to adopt the Tingler Road Trailhead.
