Obituary

Hershel Cruse 85 of Richmond died unexpectedly at his home on July 13, 2023. He was born January 30, 1938, in Sand Gap, Kentucky to Tom and Mamie Lady Cruse and lived here since he was 15 years old. He formerly worked at Richmond Baking Company and retired from Wayne Corporation where he worked as a press operator. He also owned his own car detailing business and worked a Fred First Ford. He attended the Straight Line Pike Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include his wife Marjie, one daughter Karen Lynn (Michael) Pierce, one granddaughter Shonda Lynn (Corey) Gray, three great-grandsons Brantley, Maverick, and Lincoln Gray, one brother Donald Ray Cruse, three sisters Christine Day Lakes, Jean Potter, and Patricia Harrison, nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

His first wife Ruby died in 2013. He is also preceded in death by his brothers Larry Rex, Wendell, Junior, Luker, Raymond, Noel, and Jake Cruse, and his sisters Birty Lakes, Hattie Brockman, Gertrude Powell, Joyce Malicoat, and Alberta Lakes.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Chapel with Rev John Shepherd officiating. The burial will be in Goshen Cemetery.
