Obituary

Grant Wesley Brummett, 89, of Rising Sun, Indiana, passed away on July 1, 2026, surrounded by loved ones at The Waters of Rising Sun. He was born November 28, 1936, in Bernstadt, Kentucky, to the late Howard and Maxine Brummett.

On April 18, 1959, Wesley was united in marriage to Anna Mae Shearer, who preceded him in death. They were blessed with two children, Richard Earl Brummett and Tonya Ann Brummett. He was also preceded in death by his significant other of 12 years, Jeannie Gregory.

Wesley enjoyed working on cars and had a true passion for building show cars and trucks from scratch. He handcrafted every piece with meticulous care and detail. Over the years, he completed eight show vehicles and earned many trophies at car shows. In retirement, he loved building model cars and proudly displayed them in his home. Wesley was known as a kind soul and a sweetheart.

He is survived by his son, Richard Brummett, and daughter-in-law, Cathy Brummett, of Baytown, Texas; one grandchild, Matthew Brummett, and his wife, Melanie, of Dayton, Texas; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

One of 15 children, Wesley is also survived by seven siblings: Al Brummett of Seven Points, Texas; Mervin Brummett of Richmond, Indiana; Herman Brummett of Winchester, Indiana; Verlie Covington of Lynn, Indiana; Sue Allen of Lynn, Indiana; Dona Jean Payne and Danny Bolden of Rising Sun, Indiana; and Kay Hubbard of London, Kentucky; as well as sister-in-law Rose Brummett of Richmond, Indiana. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends made over the years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae Brummett; his significant other, Jeannie Gregory; his daughter, Tonya Ann Brummett; and siblings Hobert Brummett, James Brummett, Loretta Schwab, Richard Brummett, Oscar Brummett, Gloradine Brummett, and Linda Gail Brummett; and in-laws Martha Brummett, Conley Schwab, Gary Allen, Kenneth Covington, and Larry York.

Family visitation will be at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home on July 6, at 1:30; a graveside service with the family will be on July 6, at 2:30 at Goshen Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.stegallberhreideorr.com
