It is with heavy hearts that Daniel Lee Ollis Sr., AKA "Duck" from Fountain City passed away on January 17, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on February 25, 1947, Daniel led a life marked by dedication and service, both in his professional and personal endeavors.

After graduating from Richmond High School, Daniel was a Vietnam Veteran serving 26 years of honorable service; during this time he demonstrated commendable courage and commitment. His military service remained a significant part of his identity throughout his life.

Following his military tenure, Daniel worked at the Richmond State Hospital, where he was well respected by his colleagues for his work ethic and compassion.

Duck's hobbies included a lifelong passion for cars, knives, coins, Hot Wheels, and thrifting, along with spending countless hours in his shop, where he could often be found tinkering with various projects. These activities brought him great joy and satisfaction, showcasing his knack for mechanics and love for hands-on pursuits. Daniel was a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, cousin, comrade/battle buddy, peer and friend.

Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, Rosalee and Raymond Ollis, and his beloved wife, Bessie Ollis.

He is survived by his sister Connie (Greg) Stackhouse and nephew Lucas, one daughter Veronica (Mark Dylan) Ollis; grandson Dylan, great-grandson Carson, one son Daniel (Nelvie) Ollis; grandchildren Ethan and Aiyah; Step children include Willadean Short; Danny (Amelia) Dotson and family, Barbara (Todd) Gunckle and family, Jamie (Elizabeth) Dotson and family; numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss his presence and cherish his memory.

Daniel's life was a testament to his resilience, generosity, and the deep love he had for his family and friends. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him as a dedicated veteran, a caring family man, and a friend to many.

Services will be at 10 AM on Wednesday, January 29, 2024, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home with Bishop Dwayne Madden officiating; burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.
