Colon Perry Lakes

Colon Perry Lakes, age 77, of Boston died Friday September 25, 2026, at the Springs of Richmond after a brief illness. He was born June 4, 1949, in Richmond to Sidney and Rosa Singleton Lakes and lived in the Richmond area all his life.

He formerly worked at Wayne Corporation and Carpenter Bus Company, then retired from Neaton Automotive. He was an Army veteran and served in Germany during the Vietnam War. Colon was a graduate of Richmond High School and received an associate’s degree in building trades from Ivy Tech Community College.

He served on the Boston Volunteer Fire Department for several years. He also served as President of the Boston Town Board. An avid hunter and fisherman, he found great joy in the outdoors and had a special affection for animals.

Survivors include his wife Inga of 52 years, his son John (Brandy) Lakes, his daughter Paula Stevens, his grandchildren Nolan and Ryan Lakes, Joseph Parciak and Jessica (Jared) Welsh, his great-grandson Sidney Welsh, one sister Sharon (Mike) Rice, one brother Duane Lakes (Cindy Sheets), one sister-in law Linda Lakes, five nieces and nephews and cousins, his longtime friends Willard and Paula Sparks and Randy Hill. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Gerald and Steve Lakes.

Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Elkhorn Cemetery.
