Obituary

Clyde D. Legear 85 of Richmond passed away June 9, 2022, at Reid Health. He was born October 5, 1936, in Sand Gap, Kentucky to Thomas P. and Ethel Hardin Legear, and lived here most of his life. He formerly worked at Richmond Power and Light and retired from Verizon, where he worked as a lineman. Clyde was a member of the Richmond Bass Club and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed going out for Sunday morning breakfast and spending time outdoors, and loved spending time with his family.

We know that the fishing in heaven just got a lot better, because Clyde was one of the best. If you ever went fishing with him, you know that his passion for spending a day on the water with his prized rod and reel was everything. In our hearts, we know that he is smiling as he steers his beloved bass boat across a lake where they're jumping like never before. We hope you catch 'em all Dad!

Survivors include his wife of 64 years Judy, four children Tom (Jennifer Lady) Legear, Tammy (Mike) Henry, and Terry (Brad) Smarrelli all of Richmond, and Tonya (Joe) Dale of Vincennes, and seven grandchildren Angela, Christina, Joe, Samantha, Cory, Brad, and Austin, eight great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and six brother and sisters.

Services will be private. Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to the family via the guest book at stegallberheideorr.com.
