Clyde Callahan, 92, of Richmond, IN, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2024, at Reid Health Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Clyde was born on March 7, 1932, to Bill and Betty (Tussie) Callahan in Jackson County, Kentucky. Though he lived a long and fulfilled life, Clyde will be greatly missed by the many he impacted.
Clyde, Baby Cake, Daddy, Grandpa, Pops, Poppy, Papaw Callahan, was a bold man who retired from Perfect Circle to pursue his calling of ministry where he founded the Pentecostal Church of God on US 27 N. After years of pastoring the church, he bought a truck and trailer and traveled from Maine to Florida buying and selling antiques, which he loved. Clyde was a snowbird, who spent many winters in Melbourne, FL, and summers at his cottage, building the biggest campfires and playing guitar while his family sang along. Clyde loved to share the gospel and remind those he loved that "He will never leave you nor forsake you."
Clyde is survived by his wife Penny Callahan, whom he married on March 10th, 1995. Clyde raised 8 children David (Marsha) Callahan, Janice Callahan, of Richmond, Clyde JR. Callahan of Florida, George Callahan, Sylvia Gregory, Rosie (Mike) Guenther, Sherry (Pat) Barker, Darrin (Jessica) Callahan, all of Richmond, Mandy (Sam) Buckley of West Carrolton, OH. Stepchildren Tammy (Marty) Hannafon, Kimberlee (Kevin) Reidel, Ronnie, and daughter Madison Nile all of Florida. Brothers Harold (Norma) Callahan, Raliegh (Sue Gail) Callahan, all of Richmond. Clyde was Grandpa to Ricky, Shannon, Kevin, Karen, Derek, Tracy, Marty, Penny, Jenny, Dawn, Anthony, Stacy, Jesse, Mikie, Elizabeth, Michaela, Destiny, Abby, Zane, Alaina, Jeremy, Joshua, Courtnee, Spencer, Madison and Great-Grandpa and Great-Great-Grandpa to many.
Clyde was preceded in death by both of his parents; Brothers, JR, George, Perry, and Billy Callahan; Sisters, Bernice Callahan, Ethel (Wilder), Dorthy (Brandenburg), Irene (Blevins), Freda (Wyatt), Edith (Parker); Grandson Marty Belcher, Daughter-in-Law, Cindy Callahan; Son-in-Law, Terry Gregory; and other beloved sister/brothers-in-law's.
Clyde's life will be celebrated during his home-going service at 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home. Friends may call from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The service will begin at 1:00 PM officiated by Pastor Sammy Reed. Burial immediately following the service at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Richmond, IN. The family would like to thank the Home Hospice Care and the Hospice team at Reid Health for their compassionate care during Clyde's final days. They'd also like to thank their family and friends for their support and prayers.
