Obituary

CLELL HURST, 88, of Richmond, IN, passed away Friday, May 27, 2022, in Reid Health Hospital. He was born in Jamestown, TN, the son of James Blaine and Lady Wytie (Stinson) Hurst.

Clell retired after a life-long career as an electrician, working in multiple industrial settings in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee. As one of the younger members of a very large family, he provided caregiving on more than one occasion for aging family members, and like his siblings was quite concerned that visitors were warm enough, had plenty to eat, and, "Do you need some gas money?" Clell was an avid reader, a talented guitar player, singer, and song-writer.

Clell was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Alicia, a son, Mark; brothers, Billy, Arnold, Elmo, Loren, John, General (Gen), and Larry Hurst; sisters Alma Hooten, Ellen Stancel, Myrt Catron, Vina "Sis" Hurst, Elizabeth Livermore, and Patricia "Fay" Everly. He is survived by his sister, Sherry Hurley; children: Alex Williams, Shelly Williams, Trent Hurst, and Kimberly Hurst, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, especially Tatiana Carbajal, and many from The Leland Legacy Senior Center, especially Lisa Jellema, RN.

Clell lived his final years at The Leland Legacy Senior Community, and there he found the kind of friendships among residents and staff that led him to consider it more than a satisfactory and meaningful residence, but rather, his "home."
