Obituary

Cheryl Kitchel Joiner passed peacefully on February 20 th at Reid Health.  She was born on January 29, 1944, in Richmond, IN.   She was the daughter of Marion and Rosalind Hartman Kitchel and had lived many years in Richmond.  After graduating from Richmond High School, she attended Butler University,  Earlham College, and Ball State University where she received her BA and MA in education.  Her teaching career included work in Muncie, Dallas PA, Northeastern Wayne, and Richmond Community Schools.  She was also employed by Owens Illinois Kimble Division.

She became a member of the Gamma Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, Dallas PA Welcome Wagon Club,  past president of Alpha  Iota Chapter of Psi Iota Xi, a board member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church Nursery School, Wayne County Retired Teachers Association, and Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.  She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Cheryl is survived by son David, sister Darice (Roger) Craft, sister-in-law Donna Kitchel, and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Terry Kitchel.

After retiring from education, she enjoyed working at Morrison Reeves Library in Richmond and living in and maintaining a country home.  She loved to read and enjoyed walking.

There will be no calling and a private service will be held.  Interment will be in Goshen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church at 121 South 18 th Street,  Richmond, IN 47374   or  The American Cancer Society at P.O. Box 7009, Indianapolis, IN   46207-7009.
