Charles J. Langley, age 76, passed peacefully, surrounded by family, on April 5, 2026, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.

He was born on April 17, 1949, in Richmond, Indiana, to John R. and Gladys Langley. Charles graduated from Richmond High School and continued on to earn an engineering degree through the Indiana–Purdue program in 1975. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1972 as a Sergeant, stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, and Okinawa, Japan, where he worked on missile systems.

Charles had a 17-year career at Sears Roebuck Co, starting as a service technician before becoming the Service Department Manager. Relocation to Dayton, Ohio, in 2000 led to a new career at the VA Hospital of Dayton, Ohio, from which he retired.

Some of his favorite pastimes were shooting pool and relaxing with a fishing pole at one of his favorite ponds. He took pride in his garden, where he grew the ingredients for some of the best home cooking you could get. He also loved any time spent with his son, grandson, and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Adam J. Langley; grandson, Blake (Valerie) Langley; great-grandsons, Lucas & Levi Langley, Gannon, Elizabeth; sister, Francie Williams; brother, Johnny Langley. He also leaves behind a special friend, Annette Watkins, whom the family would like to thank for her unwavering friendship and support for Charles.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Jane May; brother-in-law, Colson May; niece, Sissy May; nephew, Dwayne May; and brother-in-law, Kenny Williams.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 10th, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Martin Holman officiating; burial will be in Earlham Cemetery with military honors.
