Carol Jean North passed away peacefully at home on July 25th, 2023 after a long struggle with cancer. She was born July 3rd, 1948 in Troy, OH to Erlan and Frances Farling. She attended Manchester College and Ball State University where she earned a Masters in Education. She moved to Richmond after graduation and began teaching in 1973 within the Northeastern Wayne School System at the elementary level where she taught for 32 years. Retiring in 2002, this allowed her to travel including multiple trips to Denver, CO to visit her three grandchildren, and she enjoyed her retirement immensely. She is survived by her son William North of Richmond, grandchildren Carissa Sage North, Sienna Elizabeth North, and William Summit North of Tallahassee, FL, sister Joyce Lawler of New Carlisle, OH, brother Doug Farling of Douglasville, GA, sister Ursula Farling of Douglasville, GA, niece Jennifer Lawler of New Carlisle, OH as well as two other nieces and a nephew. Previously departed loved ones include her daughter Carissa Nicole North.

A calling will take place on August 18th, 2023 at 10 am, followed by a service at 11 am at Stegall-Berheide-Orr for friends and family officiated by Rev. Rick Alvey. This will be followed by a luncheon offsite. Burial will take place on August 19th, 2023 at 10 am at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in New Carlisle, OH. In lieu of flowers, her wishes were for a donation to be made in her memory to "Help the Animals," Inc., a local animal shelter located at 2101 W. Main St. in Richmond.
