Betty J. Markley, age 99 of New Paris, Ohio passed away peacefully on December 22, 2023. She was born June 25th, 1924 in Richmond, Indiana to the late Earl and Lula Gray. She married her husband Warren in 1945 and together they built a home which she continued to reside in for over 70 years.

Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She worked part-time at several local businesses but her family was her priority and she devoted her life to caring for them. Betty enjoyed baking and was well known for her famous sugar cream pie.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Markley (2003), eldest son, Dennis Markley (2000), sister, and brother.

She is survived by her daughter, Nanette Markley of Richmond, Indiana; son, Kevin Markley (Chery) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandchildren Sarah (Travis) Miller, Eaton, Ohio, Travis (Angie) Markley, Carthage, Indiana, Jenna (Justin) Hawks, Loveland, Ohio; and Colin Markley, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Great grandchildren Grace, Ava, Beau, and Caroline Miller; Preston, Alexander, and Kennady Markley; Aubrey, Brynn, and Emerson Hawks. Sisters Judi and Karen, daughters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris, Ohio with Pastor Rodney Dunn officiating.
