Betty Rose King, age 95, of Richmond, was peacefully called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on August 27, 1930, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Roy B. and Tave I. Allen McNew, Betty made Richmond her lifelong home. A devoted member of Church at the Meadows, Betty lived a life marked by deep faith, compassion, and unwavering trust in the Lord. She and her husband, George, were charter members of Christ United Church, now known as Church at the Meadows, where they faithfully served for many years. Her greatest desire was for all who knew her to come to know Jesus Christ, and her gentle spirit and steadfast belief touched the lives of many.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, George Paul King; her sister, Inzell; her brothers, Clyde, Roy W., Burl, and Marvin McNew; brother-in-law, Roy Cate; and son-in-law, Rusty Powell. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Mike King of Green Cove Springs, Florida; Kevin (Diana) King of Centerville, Indiana; and Janet Powell of Hilliard, Ohio. She was a cherished grandmother to seven grandchildren: Jonathan (Dannett), Ryan (Paige), Michelle (Mike), Emily (Eric), Kyle (Sarah), Jennifer (John) and Michael (Kayla); and a proud great-grandmother to seventeen great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy and were deeply loved. She also leaves behind many dear nieces, nephews, extended family members, and treasured friends.

Betty was the heart of her family—faithful, nurturing, and generous. Her greatest joy was found in spending time with loved ones, creating lasting memories filled with laughter, warmth, and prayer. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and Christ-like love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A visitation will be held from 1:00–2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Church at the Meadows, 3430 Backmeyer Road, Richmond. A celebration of Betty's life will follow at 2:00 p.m., with her dear friend and pastor, Brett Karanovich, officiating; Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Betty will be laid to rest following the service at Greens Fork South Cemetery.
