Ann Rutledge Commons Lee, 81, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away on February 23, 2024, having given cancer a formidable opponent for the last two years.

Born in Richmond on February 12, 1943, to the late Russell and Maxine Commons, and sister to John (Donna) Commons, currently of Cincinnati,  Ann graduated from Richmond Senior High School in 1961, received her Bachelors in Education from the University of Missouri, and went on to earn a Masters in Education from Ball State University.

Ann was a life-long educator, whose fondest years were spent teaching kindergarten in Hagerstown, Indiana. Never one to shy away from a challenge, it was during those years that Ann chose to pursue flight lessons. While she didn't get her pilot's license, she did win over the pilot Glen Lee, her husband of 45 years, who survives her.

Gardening, bird watching, and enjoying a special cup of tea with those she loved were among Ann's favorite pastimes. She was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Elizabeth (Tom) Gentry of Jacksonville, Florida, and Suzanne Lee of Chicago, Illinois, and lovingly doted on her two grandsons, Adam and Samuel.

While there are many more stories that could be shared, Ann always said that if you knew her, you knew her, and if you didn't, it wasn't time to care.
