Obituary

June 26, 1927 – April 29, 2025

Amy June Holman of Richmond, IN was a beloved grandmother, mother, and wife during her incredible 97 years of life.  She passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord surrounded by family and friends at Reid Health in the afternoon hours of Tuesday, April 29, 2025.

She was born in Saginaw, Michigan on June 26, 1927, the eleventh child of the twelve children born to Louis and Nita Preston.  At an early age her family moved to Pontiac, Michigan where she was raised.  After graduating from Pontiac Central High School in 1945, she received a degree in cosmetology.

In 1946 Amy met the love of her life, Francis Holman.  They were married on June 19, 1948, and they would spend the next 76 years faithfully living life together.

Amy moved with her family to Richmond, IN in 1964.  Together with her husband and 3 boys, they would establish the Hillcrest Baptist Church.  For the next 60 years she would stand alongside her husband in the ministry.  She was always supportive, loving, kind, and gentle with a listening ear for everyone.  With a heart of gold, she was an amazing woman.  One of her adult grandchildren recently wrote, "when I listened for a godly voice, I would hear papa, but when I watched, it was Mamie's example I would attempt to mimic."

She leaves to cherish her memory, her three sons, Martin (Susan) Holman, Michael (Kati) Holman, and Matthew (Joy) Holman. Her eight grandchildren, Martin (Carie) Holman, Amie (Phil) Voss, Brooke Holman, Michael (Jessica) Holman, Tim Holman, Keri (Darren) McGuire, Angel (Jason) Mahr, Jake (Ashley) Holman.  Her 26 great grandchildren, Sawyer Holman, Scarlett Holman, Marishka Holman, Zander Holman, Chelsea Voss, Mykenna Voss, Philip Voss, Jonathan Holman, Meghan Holman, Josiah Holman, Jakob (Audrey) Bush, Jesse McGuire, Micah McGuire, Cameron (Julie) Holman, Claire Holman, Caloway Holman, Mac Holman, Levi Holman, Cameron Mahr, Sydney Mahr, Griffin Mahr, Chandler Mahr, Rocco Mahr, London Holman, Kingston Holman and Oakland Holman.

Amy was preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Francis, her parents, eleven brothers and sisters, and a great-great granddaughter Vanessa Voss.
