Alvin Haynes
Jones
Oct 6, 1951 — Mar 24, 2024
Alvin Haynes Jones, age 72, of Richmond, died Sunday, March 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on October 6, 1951, in Sexton, Tennessee to Ida Mae and George Franklin Jones and has lived in Richmond since the age of four. He was a military veteran and served with the United States Army, a member of Fairview Baptist Church, and the Knights of Saint John. He was a master welder for Wayne Works, a self-employed automotive technician, and a computer technician. Many knew Alvin for his exceptional mechanical skills with cars and motorcycles. He loved his athletics into his adulthood, drag racing and motorcycle rides, listening to music at a volume the neighborhood could enjoy. He was often the first phone call when others needed help; he was incredible at diagnosing a problem over the phone. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife Violet Jones of 52 years, daughter Cindy Phillips (Roger Harrison), son Curtis Jones (Amy Tapken), daughter Christy Jones (DeeDee Fussner), granddaughters Cindy Burns (Brad), Michelle Phillips, Harper Jones, Ava Jones, great-grandsons Mason Burns, Jordan Burns, his namesake Brayden 'Haynes' Burns, two sisters Ann 'Flo' Abney (Rich) and Fran Click, two brothers George W. Jones and Ray Jones (Karen) and dozens of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who he loved and cared for very much.
He was preceded in death by his father George Jones, mother Ida Jones, brother John Jones and his wife Suzie, and niece Angela Abney.
