"Jr." Powell
May 23, 1946 — Nov 17, 2025
Richmond
Alva Ray "Jr." Powell, 79, of Richmond, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Forest Park Health Campus. He was born to the late Alva R. Sr. and Mary Louise (Veregge) Powell on May 23, 1946, in Richmond.
Jr. was a fun and loving man; he enjoyed antique cars, ZZ Top, and chopping wood. Bun Squeezers was his CB handle name, which made most laugh. He was a real "Lady's" man. He was a loyal truck driver for many years for Mikesells and ABF Trucking. He was a lifelong hard worker. He would be seen many days cutting grass in the Wayne Township Cemeteries where he took great pride in being the grounds caretaker. Around the Christmas holiday, he enjoyed playing Santa for many families and neighbors. He was also a member of the Vintage Wheels Car Club.
Left to cherish Jr.'s memory are his 2 sons, Jerry (Carla) Powell and Jim "Bo" (Samantha) Powell; daughter, Tammy (Mike) Sullenberger; daughter-in-law, Lori Powell; sister, Patty Burns; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and his aunt, Virginia Vern.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian Powell; special grandmother, Wahnetta Veregge; sister, Cindy Miller; aunt, Bernadine Bell and his special friend, Donna Dryden.
A celebration of Life will be held for Jr. later next spring.
