Obituary

The inimitable, Bishop Allen Dean Henderson, age 62, of Richmond, Indiana, born in Columbus, Indiana on August 26, 1963, left his earthly home on June 17, 2026. He grew up in the sticks of Brown County, IN and lived out his calling and purpose daily by serving others of all kinds as a minister for over 47 years.

Allen was a dedicated husband, trustworthy father, and "Poppy". His legacy remains in his wife, DeAnna Jo Henderson of Greencastle, IN; in his two beloved daughters, Larissa Renee Brown (Josh) of Franklin, IN, and Cassie Lachelle Henderson of Indianapolis, IN -  in his nephew, Paul Ollen Henderson who was like a son to Allen, of Brown County, IN (Tina) and by his grandchildren, Gabriel Allen Brown, Penelope Grace Brown, Maverick Joshua Brown, and Leo Alexander Roth.

His impact cannot be summed up in an obituary, but we will honor him with these details here:

Allen was drawn to ministry in his youth. At the age of 15, he preached his first sermon and began preaching revivals throughout the state of Indiana. During this time, he met DeAnna while ministering in Greencastle, IN. After many dates and falling in love over pizza and Columbus North Basketball games, they continued his calling of ministry together. With DeAnna by his side, they served as Associate Pastors in Marion, Indiana; Lead Pastors at Austin, IN, Columbus, IN Greenwood, IN, Real Life Church in Indianapolis, and finally serving in Richmond for this last decade.

{Accomplishments} Allen served on the National Evangelism Board. He has served countless terms on the State Council, State Youth Board, State Mission's Board, State Finance Committee, Leader of the Ministerial Internship Program and served as Chair of the State Music Committee with the Church of God of Cleveland, TN.

He had a heart and passion to preach and teach Jesus Christ. His messages were delivered in a way that captured the heart of the people. He knew how to bring unity, hope and laughter to the congregation through this gift.

He was so much more than a pastor and worship leader. He had all the abilities and skills as a musician. He was genuine and humble in his spirit. He had a heart for God and for people. He led and shepherded out of pure compassion and love.

Allen was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Joan Fish; his father, Ollen Henderson; his brothers, Clarence and Paul Henderson. He is survived by his sisters, Annabelle (Carol) Moore of Columbus, IN, and Ruth of Edinburgh, IN.
